Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the General Building Manager the security guard is responsible for security services of the Blood Tribe Administration. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping a record of all persons entering and leaving the building after business hours and documents this activity. The Security Guard is responsible for operations of the D.C.S. Security System and the key-system for the building which includes keeping a record of all personnel and their key/door numbers.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the General Building Manager
AREA OF SUPERVISION:

Positions that generally to the General report to the Security Guard include:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures Manual.

Maintains order and enforces regulations during office hours. Provides detailed reports of any security related incidents.

Ensures the safety of the occupants of the building through the monitoring of activities, reporting of incidents and contacting appropriate authorities when required.

Is responsible for opening the building every morning performs security checks to ensure that building is properly secured.

Enforces the “No Parking Rule” in front of the building by asking persons to remove vehicles.

After business hours, the incumbent will routinely patrol all entrances and parking areas.

Maintains a detailed journal of activities in the building on a daily basis.

The incumbent will demonstrate professionalism in all dealings with staff and members of the general public.

Will be required to remain on call to re-place staff during the week if needed.

Reports any items on the property that may require maintenance to the General Building Manager

Assists custodial staff in the moving of heavy items, snow removal and grounds keeping as required to ensure safety of tenants & general public.

Assist with any other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
-
Must have a valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.

Must be fluent in the Blackfoot language.

Must undergo a Criminal Record Check.

Must be willing to work shifts.
-
Must possess computer skills.
-
Must possess excellent written & verbal communication skills.
-
Must be able to work independently & with minimal supervision.
-
Must be physically fit to handle all security related issues.
Qualifications
NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
The ideal candidate must be willing to do shift work and must have a Security Officer Training Certificate from a recognized post secondary program and have three years related experience.

Must have a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate

Must provide an updated criminal record check
-
Must have a valid class 5 drivers license, and a reliable mode of transportation
