Term - 6 Months

SUMMARY:

The Successful applicant will be generally responsible for coordinating the Land Dispute Resolution process for the Blood Tribe, whose purpose is to facilitate a fair and objective process in the adjudication and resolution of disputes on land occupancy of the Blood Reserve occurring among members of the Blood Tribe.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • The successful applicant will be employed with the Management Department of the Blood Tribe Administration for 6 months and will be under the direct supervision of the Senior Executive Team.

 

AREA OF SUPERVISION:

Positions which generally report to the Land Dispute Resolution Technician include:

             NONE     

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Kainai Land Use & Occupation Dispute & Resolution Policy and The Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures Manual and the Lands Department Operations Manual.

 

  • Participating in an initial orientation of the operations of the Blood Tribe Administration and Kainai Land Use & Occupation Dispute Resolution Policy and Process

 

  • Coordinating the operations of the Kainai Land Dispute Resolution Panel and Appeals Tribunal.

 

  • Participate in a Kainai Land Use & Occupancy Dispute Resolution orientation and training session 1 Day.

 

  • Assist the Blood Tribe in the continued development and maintenance of an appropriate record keeping system

 

  • Working in close consultation with employees of the Blood Tribe Administration including the Tribal Government and Land Management Departments and the Kainai Land Dispute Resolution Panel & Appeals Tribunal.

 

  • Coordinating the development and completion of appropriate forms and documents to be utilized by Blood Tribe in the administration of the Kainai Land Use & Occupation Dispute Resolution policy.

 

  • Schedule appropriate hearings and meetings of the Kainai Land Dispute Resolution Panel and Appeals Tribunal.

 

  • Ensure any hearings and/or meetings of the Kainai Land Dispute Resolution Panel and Appeals Tribunal are appropriately convened and fully documented.

 

  • Coordinating appropriate and timely correspondence and communications on behalf of the Kainai Land Dispute Resolution Panel and Appeals Tribunal.

 

 

  NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Fluent in speaking, communicating and understanding the Blackfoot Language

 

  • Familiarity with Blackfoot cultural protocol

 

  • Familiar with the Blood Reserve land occupancy system.

 

  • Effective writing and oral communication skills.

 

  • Effective organizational, office procedural and time management skills.

 

  • Individual must be highly motivated with excellent initiative and an ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision.

 

  • Individual must be capable of competing multiple tasks within scheduled deadlines

 

  • Individual must be willing and able to work after regular office hours as required from time to time.

 

  • Individual must have an excellent working knowledge of current computer hardware and software, including use of word processing, spreadsheet, and data base and web browser software.

 

  • Individual must be a team player and able to work as part of a team.

 

  • The individual must be able to carry out duties and responsibilities promptly and courteously and maintain professionalism at all times.

Qualifications

NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a Management Degree in Political Science or Native American Studies at a recognized institution and 3 years related experience
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and a reliable mode of transportation.
  • Must submit an updated criminal record check.
