Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Data Technician performs a variety of duties related to the entry and management of data for the Blood Tribe Land Management Department (BTLMD), supporting the Lands Registry and other Service Delivery Areas. The incumbent is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and updating all BTLMD data, including records within the BTLMD Lands Registry Database, ensuring information is accurate, current, and updated daily. The Data Technician also supports document scanning for Laserfiche and manages data storage in accordance with departmental standards.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

-                The Data Technician reports directly to the Office Manager.

 

AREA OF SUPERVISION:

-                Positions which generally report to the Data Technician:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures and the Blood Tribe Land Management Policy Manual.

 

  • Enters all information into the database received from the BTLMD Supervisors and the Director in a timely manner.

 

  • Scans all information to the Laserfiche software.

 

  • Assists the Lands Registry staff with researching and providing data as required.

 

  • Reviews data and ensures it is stored into the appropriate databases.

 

  • Proactively verifying data through source documents.

 

  • Monitoring and updating existing data when required.

 

  • Retrieving data when required for all BTLMD staff members.

 

  • Ensures that data information is properly stored and backed up.

 

  • Any other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Must possess a high-level of organizational and record-keeping skills.

 

  • Must be possess excellent interpersonal skills.

 

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.

 

  • Accurate typing and data entry skills

 

  • Excellent attention to detail.

 

  • Must possess a working knowledge of the latest data analysis, spreadsheet, database, Laserfiche and related computer software.

Qualifications

NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess a one-year Office Assistant Certificate and a minimum of one-year related work experience.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with the latest Data Base Software.
