Job Description

General Description:

The Data Entry Clerk assists with the daily preparation and disbursement of Income Support payments and associated accounts payables, along with month end reports for the Social Development Department. The Data Entry Clerk also works with Case Managers to ensure client needs are met in accordance with Income Support payments by keeping information accurate, current and updated daily.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to Finance Supervisor

 

AREA OF SUPERVISION:

  • None

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures and the Blood Tribe Social Development Policy Manual.
  • Is responsible for monthly pay list cheque runs including sorting and mailing and daily cheque runs when requested.
  • Be able to access client information on the computer to analyze.
  • Ensure payables are processed with necessary back up.
  • Performs other duties on occasion as needed including assisting the social services finance staff with filing, recording cheque numbers and replacing the receptionist.
  • Attends staff meetings and other meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Prepare monthly statistics  with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Filing of B & D’s and related documentation on a daily basis and month end
  • Any other duties as assigned.

 

NECESSSARY KNOWELDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and office equipment including computer programs such as Excel, Microsoft Work, Outlook
  • Ability to perform data entry clerk duties with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client files and documentation related to income support payments
  • Must be a Team player
  • Must have experience in file maintenance
  • Must be able to deal effectively with staff and general public
  • Must have had previous experience in working with any accounting software program
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in the Blackfoot language

Qualifications

NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • The ideal candidate must possess an Office Assistant Certificate with one years related data entry experience.
  • Must submit an updated Criminal Record Check
  • Must have a valid drivers license and a reliable mode of transportation
