Job Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Maintenance Worker will provide support for ongoing implementation and optimization of maintenance best practices, inventory parts, standard inspection programs and predictive maintenance programs. Perform regular maintenance and repairs as approved by the Housing Department on the rental units in Standoff, Lavern and Moses Lake sub-divisions. Provide support for the maintenance of overall plant and support equipment including the off-site and on-site Housing ground equipment.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

The incumbent reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor
AREA OF SUPERVISION:
- No area of supervision
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Blood Tribe Administration Policies and Procedures Manual and guidelines set forth by the Blood Tribe Housing Department.

Follows up on requests for any maintenance and repairs as approved by the Housing Maintenance Supervisor and Tenant Relation Officers.

Must have knowledge of building ramps in accordance with CHHC specifications.

Knowledge of operating a fork-lift to assist in loading and unloading supplies.

Cleans and lubricates the fork –lift tractor on a monthly basis.

Maintains the yard and lawn around the Housing and maintenance buildings.

Maintains a monthly logbook of inventory for equipment taken out of maintenance shop.

Knowledge in repairing or replacing doors and windows according to code within reasonable time frame.

Knowledge of repairing or building steps according to code and within a reasonable time frame.

Cleans and organizes the Maintenance shop on a monthly basis.

Work with the Housing team to improve plant operations including safety, quality, cost, efficiency and waste management.

Ensure Health & Safety and proper environmental practices are followed within department.

Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor

Must be professional in nature in daily contacts and interaction with co-workers, Blood Tribe Administration employers, employees, Chief & Council and with the public.

Works closely in a team-oriented environment.

Must be able and willing to work with or without supervision.

Must have excellent organizational skills.

Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to produce concise, clear, accurate and timely reports as required by the Project Manager/Maintenance Supervisor

Must possess a general knowledge of the building codes and building construction.

Must have knowledge of current housing trends and issues.
-
Must have good understanding of Native culture and issues.
-
Related experience in a Native organization is an asset.
-
Ability to communicate in Blackfoot is an asset.
Qualifications
NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
-
Must have Post-Secondary Education in related Technical Field in relation to Maintenance, or equivalent training and experience.

Must have a valid drivers’ license and a reliable mode of transportation.

Must submit a current Criminal Record Check
-
Must submit a current drivers abstract.
